A Taste of Southern Oregon – Historic Jacksonville and Wine Country

Historic Jacksonville is a must see on a visit to Southern Oregon. The entire town has been designated a Historic Landmark and remains much as it was over 100 years ago. Old brick buildings, once occupied by saloons and frequented by gold miners still line the streets and are now home to unique shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. This quaint town is also a great starting point to explore the wineries of the Applegate Valley.

Take a Break in Ashland

When a friend mentioned coming to Southern Oregon with his family for spring break I started compiling a list of suggestions of what to do, where to stay and a long list of must try restaurants. The list quickly grew to become this article. This article then grew and became a three part peek at many of the attractions, inns and restaurants that make Southern Oregon special. So if you are planing a trip to Southern Oregon for a vacation or a local looking for new things to do, here are some suggestions for enjoying this sunny southwestern corner of Oregon.

Shop Local in Grants Pass

This Christmas I put my money where my mouth is and chose to do my shopping locally in the Rogue Valley. One of my favorite spots was G Street in Grants Pass. This is a historic stretch of exceptional turn of the century buildings many of which are designated as historic landmarks.
