It is truly amazing what these artists can do with a medium as simple as chalk! This weekend October 6-7, 2012 marks the 10th annual Art Along the Rogue chalk art and music festival in downtown Grants Pass.

Historic Jacksonville is a must see on a visit to Southern Oregon. The entire town has been designated a Historic Landmark and remains much as it was over 100 years ago. Old brick buildings, once occupied by saloons and frequented by gold miners still line the streets and are now home to unique shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. This quaint town is also a great starting point to explore the wineries of the Applegate Valley.
When a friend mentioned coming to Southern Oregon with his family for spring break I started compiling a list of suggestions of what to do, where to stay and a long list of must try restaurants. The list quickly grew to become this article. This article then grew and became a three part peek at many of the attractions, inns and restaurants that make Southern Oregon special. Christmas merchandise crowds the aisles at all the shops while festive yuletide decorations line the streets. It’s Christmas, or is it? Every year it gets earlier. Had I wanted to buy ornaments or even a plastic Christmas tree I could have done so before Halloween. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Christmas but when it starts two months early that’s just overkill. So, in honor of the autumn season and that seemingly forgotten holiday called Thanksgiving here are some suggestions as to how to get out and enjoy the pre- Christmas season.
